Health week
Busy week within the ECC this week celebrating health week.
Indoors we explored healthy foods and have a veg shop set up for imaginative play, this also led to exploring money and the value of coins.

Children created their own eat well plates in the creative area sharing their knowledge and interpretation of what they think is healthy foods. Also children used mirrors to talk about their feelings and were able to make self portrait.

Outdoors, Jan our HWB champion led the children in a variety of activities daily to support exercise and well-being.

We also had a few visitors through the week PC McPike, active schools and children took part in “potted sports” with help from p6 buddies.

Remember ECC is closed Friday 26th, Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th. We will reopen Wednesday 31st May.
Have a fab weekend

Indoors
Indoors this week the children have been developing and exploring our shop 🏬 This provides children with the opportunity to develop their imaginative skills through drama whilst applying real life experiences in play 🛒 The children enjoyed exploring the role of the shopkeeper and we have been exploring and discussing money and it’s purpose 💳🪙 Some children designed and created signs for the shop including price labels and information signs 🪧

The children also explored colour mixing in the water tray using different paints.

May’s top tip for communication 💬

Week beginning 1st May
This week in the main playroom the children have been learning about king Charles with his upcoming coronation. We have been creating a song for the coronation using the wheels in the bus theme.

We also celebrated by having a party where we all got dressed up in our fancy attire and had a picnic for lunch.

In the art area the children have been making crowns for our celebrations on Friday. They have been using the ipad to look at pictures of different crowns.

In the outdoor area we had a special visit from one of our parents who brought in two baby lambs for us to see. We were able to feed them with a bottle and learned lots of information about them.

Week Beginning 24/04/2023
It’s been a busy week in the ECC.⭐️ Indoors we have been looking at road safety and the green cross code. We continued to explore small world, using vehicles and road signs through play. We made some road signs in the art area as well as recognising what senses we need to use whilst out and about.
Curricular areas; Health and Well-being, Expressive Arts, Numeracy

Whenever we go to woods or explore the community we make sure to sing our song when crossing the street.
🎶Stop, look and listen.
Before you cross the street.
Use your eyes, use your ears.
Before you use your feet!🎶

In the art area, whilst creating road signs, we started discussing shape and used various shape objects to create pictures. We are all becoming a lot more confident with shape recognition.
Curricular area; Expressive Arts, Numeracy

Outdoors we have been able exploring den building and construction. This links into our trips to the woods and also our interest in camping. We began incorporating animals into our play and making houses for them.
