The over the course of the month, the children have been learning the new routine of getting ready for visiting the woods. We focus on independence and leadership skills – making sure the children are appropriately dressed with warm clothing and a hi-vis. The children also take responsibility for their own bag, snack and water. Before we head out we learn the rules which keep everyone safe. This is reinforced throughout the visit – focussing on the importance of road safety, listening ears and sticky feet (the code we use for stop, stand still and listen in case of any emergencies or change in instruction). The children are also learning all about the green cross code and we use a crossing the road song to reinforce this.

The children enjoyed lots of dancing to spooky music and played some traditional party games. They had opportunities to interact with their friends and practice turn taking. Thank-you to the parent council who kindly donated a special treat for the children’s snack which they were able to enjoy with their friends 😊 The children listened well to the instructions and participated well in the games and enjoyed dooking for apples 🍎

Have a super Halloween weekend and stay safe if you’re going trick or treating 🍭 🍫
Cara.
