ECC Learning Week Commencing 29.1.26-30.1.26

I n d o o r s – 

The children continued to explore families, creating their own family story/picture books. The children have began to show an interest in vehicles, building their own vehicles in the construction area. We have added sand in the indoor environment, the children have seemed to enjoy exploring this sensory experience, mainly focusing on sharing and turn taking.

 

We also revisited ‘Pantosaurus’ to recap children’s right to privacy linking with UNCRC and our ECC charter.

O u t d o o r s – 

The children have been exploring Scottish music outdoors, using musical instruments to support their play, discussions around Robert Burns and the history behind this.

Well done to everyone who participated in the Big Bird Watch and completed the home link challenge. The children have been using their own homemade binoculars outdoors to look for birds. Discussions around the different species of birds and using/recalling bird names. The children made more bird feeders to take home.

We also created a new shelter outdoors and the children enjoyed exploring a variety of different stories in their ‘cosy wee shelter’.

Some children participated in ‘Woodland Wednesday’ this week, participating in risk taking play, building upon gross motor skills and using our senses/imagination to explore. Some children were looking for ‘Big Foot’ in the woods.

ECC Learning Week Commencing 19.1.26-23.1.26

I n d o o r s –

This week the children have continued to explore the theme of families and what family means to them. They have explored how to care for a baby using role play resources and stories, applying their real life experiences to their play.

In the small world area the children have been building small houses out of different construction materials and role playing families.  We have had some new children start at the ECC and we have been exploring/revisiting the ECC charter and colour monster.

O u t d  o o r s –

The children have been exploring nature and different species of birds. They made their own bird hide out and using construction parts as binoculars. Most of the children created their own bird feeders to take home as part of the ‘Big Bird Watch’ home link they will be taking part in this weekend. Next week Lynnette will create a bar chart in relation to the Big Bird Watch and submit the children’s findings, so remember to complete your homework.

ECC Learning Week Commencing 12.1.26-16.01.26

I n d o o r s – 

This week in the ECC we have been exploring the theme of families and how families can be different in many different ways. The children have been exploring families in the small world area, dolls house, exploring different family members in the dolls house. Some children were able to apply their real life experiences of their family to their imaginative play.

In the creative area the children have been designing their own family trees using a variety of collage materials.

In the quiet room this week we have focusing on story telling; exploring stories, retelling and predicting  what happens next in a story and creating our own stories.

This week in the outdoor area the children have been exploring and using real tools to create their very own bird house. The children called it ‘Mauchline ECC penthouse’. The children were risk assessing their own learning and how to use tools safely. They worked as part of a team to create the bird house.

ECC Learning Week Commencing 5.1.26-9.1.26

I n d o o r s –

The children have been discussing Christmas, what they gifts they received and spending time with family. The children have been discussing their family life and applying real life experiences to their imaginative play. We will continue to focus on the theme of families and what family means to the children.

In the creative area the children were exploring mark making materials and drawing their own family with create detail and ascribing meaning to their marks.

O u t d o o r s –

This week outdoors the children have been exploring the weather (ice), exploring the ice and the formation of ice. The children were also taking photographs of the ice outdoors and discussing the patterns ice creates. The children were also exploring the story the bug collector and next week we will continue their interest of this and create a bird house outdoors.
