Outdoors

Outdoors this month we have been-

We have started to explore Autumn, we have noticed the changing colour of the leaves on the trees in the garden.

Logan ECC have started a garden club ,we planted seed bombs in our flower bed to attract  the bees.

Following on from harvesting our potatoes we have gathered  cooking apples from our apple tree to share with you, the children were very keen to take them home to see what they could cook.

We have been dancing to our favourite songs in the afternoon, we made a poster with the songs we liked.

We have been building with the loose parts, we introduced cardboard boxes and created a wonderful castle for the Superheroes.

Dates for your diary-

We hope you can join on the 5 November to participate in

Outdoor Classroom Day

where you will be able to explore some of the wonderful experiences on offer ,more details to follow

Zone 2 – Creation – Hedgehogs!

Creation Zone

Welcome Back Bobo!

Bobo has been spotted on our trail cam! That is ‘her’ officially back in the garden, and the children have started feeding her again several times a week to make sure she puts on enough weight for winter.

She has also made a wee nest under one of our apple trees. Some of the children helped make signs to let those who cut our grass know where she may be sleeping during the day.

Favourite Food

This month in the Creation Zone, we have created our Conversation Station, where we have a wee blether about what the children have been focusing on in the area. This month, we have been talking about our favourite foods, and there’s been lots to talk about! We found out that many of the children enjoy the same foods and some could talk about the ingredients in their favourite meal.

Sensory Voting Station

We have also introduced the Sensory Voting Station. The children will use this each day to vote on their preferred sensory experience for the following day and record it on the weekly chart.

Potions

The children have been enjoying mixing and creating potions in the water tray. We made a mind map to add more ingredients to our potions and practise for Halloween.

Our Learning So Far in Zone 1

Hi everyone,

My name is Mary, I am the Communication Champion and also the Key worker for  the Koala group..

It is so good to be back seeing you all.

We have been very busy in Zone 1.

Practicing our self help skills, dressing, undressing, fastening zips through playing with the dressing up clothes.

We are also investigating and exploring 2D shape , matching, naming  and describing when choosing a shape for our leader badge and participating in a 2D shape hunt in all areas of the playroom and outdoors.

Each month we will have a Rhyme of the Month.

September’s Rhyme is…..

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, which the children have been reciting together in large group and enjoying using the talking tub to record themselves reciting the Rhyme and playing it back for others to hear.

We have also been sharing what we know about the stars, moon, planets and the sun by having discussions together at welcome time and plan to record what we know for others to see.

Can you ask your child to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to you and their family?

Zone 2 – Creation

Welcome to Zone 2

Hello everyone, my name is Claire, some of you will already know me, however for our new starts I am the key worker for our Panda Group.

We have been very busy and messy in zone 2 since coming back. We have been making and exploring playdough, making our own recipes too. It was too sticky so we had to add more flour to get it just right, but we have perfected our recipe.

We have also been exploring 2D and 3D shapes too, some of the children have been creating amazing ideas such as this castle!

We have also been exploring recognising letters in our names too, with some children able to pick out, recognise letters, spell their own names and those of their friends.

Gold Hedgehog Award

On the very last day we finished up for the summer holidays everyone’s hard work helping and making the hedgehog haven for Bobo our ECC hedgehog in the willow garden paid off, as we were awarded our Gold Award by the British Hedgehog Society.

Going forward we are going to continue this hard work and aim for our platinum award for this year!
