After finishing our topic on Toy Story as part of our homework we practised and brought in our favourite toy to share in class. We completed a solo talk focusing on sharing information with our peers about our toy, looking at our audience and talking in a loud and clear voice so everyone could hear us. As part of the audience we were working on quality listening including asking a question about what our friend had been talking about. We had lots of fun and it was lovely to hear about our favourite toys. Well done, P1/2!
September
In September we have taken part in Maths Week Scotland. We also had lots of fun at ‘the Voice Project’ each week where we learned lots of rhymes and about the beat and rhythm.
We have been learning lots of new sounds and putting these together to read words. We have also been working hard on name writing and beginning to make sentences.
For our topic we have made a slinky dog and we have explored a poem about families and shared our own family with our friends. We have also been learning football and basketball at P.E.
We have also finished a block on measure. We have been really interested in exploring money this month. We have changed our role play area to a shop. In our shop we used the ‘p’ sound to write tags for items in the shop. We also used the ‘sh’ sound that some of us have been learning to write shop.

Maths Week Scotland
For maths week Scotland we made our own hand print and finger print rulers to measure objects. We also had lots of fun measuring outside.
Dumfries House Farm
We had a lovely school trip to Dumfries House Farm. We had lots of fun looking at and helping to look after all the different animals. Our trip also helped us with our new topic learning all about the farm, life cycles of farm animals. where our food comes from and the seasons. We really enjoyed feeding the animals and also learning about dairy farming from our guide Heather. Here are a few photos and a link below to all of the photos taken on the day.
August
In August we have been working hard. P1/2 have been working on Nursery Rhymes and finding words that rime. We have started learning new sounds and practising writing our names. We have been working on measuring as part of our maths. We have been doing so well at sorting objects by since and measuring using non-standard units of measure. First Week at School
