Many of us in Scotland live only a short drive, cycle or walk from the coast or other large bodies of water.  Kilmarnock is about a 30 minute drive from the Ayrshire coast.

Our seas and waters are an important part of Scotland’s biodiversity and have played a huge role in shaping our history and our future. Historic Environment Scotland – Scotland’s Coastal Places online  exhibition helps put this is context.

Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading marine charity. We work to ensure our seas are healthy, pollution free and protected.

Suggestions for surveys, beach clean ups and many practical and fun activities. The Cool Seas Learning Resources are online and many are interactive and suitable for classroom use.  School road shows postponed currently but webinars available.

World Ocean Day for Schools has free to access, year-round library of digital and in-person resources bringing awareness to the human and ocean connection. We also have a whale of a time hosting an annual celebration of World Ocean Day every June.
