Gardens can be within the school grounds or you may have access to a local community garden. Gardens can be for growing food, supporting wildlife or, preferably, both. A few tubs or a single raised bed count as a garden as does a wild space in the corner of the school field. You do not need to be an expert to begin gardening activities and do not be afraid to learn alongside your pupils or with the help of members of the wider school community.
RHS School Gardening Campaign & Awards is very flexible and is supported by topic and lesson plans, information sheets and activity guides. All are free and you do not have to register with the awards to access them.
Whether you are just starting out in your garden or looking to develop an existing area, the School Gardening Awards can help!
