Not only is this a chance to exercise teamwork, it is a good prompt for thinking and talking about our role in the world. Can we all make a positive impact through our decisions and choices?
It links well to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (see link at the bottom of this page).
Activity
Make a wristband and think about the responsibilities we have for ourselves, other people and for the environment.
You will need
3 strands of wool or string (each a different colour and each approximately 40 cm long)
scissors
a friend to work with
What you do
- Choose one of the coloured strands to represent you. Talk about what you do to look after yourself.
- Decide which colour will represent other people. Talk about what we do or should do to look after other people.
- The final colour will represent the environment. How do we care and protect the environment?
- Follow the link below to learn how to twist the 3 strands of wool together to create a very special wristband. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOmXXqoA4yo The video clip shows 2 strands but the method is the same for 3 strand wristbands.
- Teach someone else to make a wristband!
