Make a Wristband

Not only is this a chance to exercise teamwork, it is a good prompt for thinking and talking about our role in the world.  Can we all make a positive impact through our decisions and choices?

It links well to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (see link at the bottom of this page).

Activity

Make a wristband and think about the responsibilities we have for ourselves, other people and for the environment.

You will need

3 strands of wool or string (each a different colour and each approximately 40 cm long)

scissors

a friend to work with

What you do

  1. Choose one of the coloured strands to represent you. Talk about what you do to look after yourself.
  2. Decide which colour will represent other people.  Talk  about what we do or should do to look after other people.
  3. The final colour will represent the environment. How do we care and protect the environment?
  4. Follow the link below to learn how to twist the 3 strands of wool together to create a very special wristband.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOmXXqoA4yo The video clip shows 2 strands but the method is the same for 3 strand wristbands.
  5. Teach someone else  to make a wristband!
