Make a Potion

This is a really fun activity which connects imagaintion, story telling, sequencing and science all in one.

Read a story about a witch – any story! It could be Room on the Broom or another favourite.  Head outside with any pot, pan or tub.  Think about what kind of potion you will make – a spoooky one, a useful one?  Find a stick – a special, magical stick – to be your magic wand and then search for the ingredients.

You can put them in, calling them what they are – a berry, a leaf, a stone OR you can use your imagination and they could be something different – a dinosuar’s tooth, a dragon’s scale, a poison apple and so on!

Mix all your ingredients together – you can add some vinegar and some baking soda to make it fizz if you like, or you could add some spices or fairy liquid to make it smell!

After you have done this, can you draw a picture to show what you put into your potion, or could you write a recipe?  You could also try to write a poem in the style of a witch….hubble bubble toil and trouble!
