Make a Mini Notebook
Having a notebook with you when you are outside can be really useful. You might want to make a quick sketch of an interesting bug, plant, rock, landscape or cityscape you have found or you may want to make some notes to remind you of what you have discovered.
This mini notebook is designed to fit into the palm of your hand and to fit into your pocket. You just need a short pencil to go with it!
To make your notebook you will need:
- an A4 sheet of paper
- a pair of scissors
- a flat, hard surface to work on.
Make a Nature Journal
The environmentalist John Muir was a prolific writer and wrote many books and articles in his lifetime. Many of his books began as Nature Journals.
This article from the Sierra Club (one of the first environmental groups in the world and John Muir was its first president) tells you how to make a Nature Journal and gives you some ideas for how to use a Nature Journal or mini notebook to record your thoughts, discoveries and adventures!
