IDL Topic based on A Piece of String is A Wonderful Thing

This Interdisciplinary Learning topic is based on the non-fiction book A Piece of String is a Wonderful Thing by Judy Hindley.

The book investigates the prehistory and history of string in all its shapes and forms.  It looks at the impact string has had on human history and provokes the question, ‘Where would we be without string?’ No fabrics, fastenings, fewer tools and machines …

It is a fun book delivered as a rhyming poem.  We have a limited number of books for loan (one per class).  Contact Us

There are 8 cards – one for each curricular area – with a core lesson and suggestions for further and extension activities.  Resources have been kept to a minimum meaning that this is a topic that could be adapted for Remote Learning.
