These activities are suitable for learners working at Early to Second Level depending on the level of support.

Mapping the Story/ Mapping
Whoville is located on a speck of dust on a clover flower. The clover is in the Jungle of Nool… Draw a map showing Whoville and where it exisits within the Jungle of Nool. You will have to draw a few different maps to show where Whoville gets to as the story progresses!
Can you do the same for your own house ? What street, what town, what part of Scotland, what part of the World.
Use Google Maps (both map and satellite images) to zoom in and out of the area around your home. https://www.google.co.uk/
Does Size Matter?
This website has used information from the United Nations to create a table showing world population by country – Worldometer.
Investigate population size and area occupied by different countries. Where on the list is the United Kingdom fit? Would it count as a small or large country?
Is the biggest country (by land area) the most important? Is the most populous most important?
Can you find the smallest country on a map of the world?
