Horton Hears a Who!

Horton Hears a Who! by Dr Seuss

Here is another story from Dr Seuss.  Again, it at first looks like a simple picture book .  However, it contains some very important messages, including ‘A person’s person, no matter how small.’

Horton the elephant accidentally discovers the tiny town of Whoville, home to the microscopic Whos.  The town of Whoville and the entire Who world exists on what to appears to Horton to be a speck of dust.  The Who world is in danger and Horton takes on the responsibility of taking care of it even though no-one at first believes that Whoville or the Whos exist.

The book was first published in 1954 and has been adapted for TV and film.

Here are a number of activities you can do that link to the book;

Many of these activities can be completed without reading the book but you may want to search online and watch the TV animation of the book or watch the 2008 film version.

Reading the book or watching the films will support awareness of the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals.  To learn more visit https://www.globalgoals.org/
