Heritage Heroes

The Heritage Hero Award was launched in 2016.  The awards are very accessible and, already, over 12,000 awards have been made  in Scotland. Participation in the award aims to encourage learners to connect with, explore and enjoy the past, and to reward their achievement.

The Archaeology Scotland Learning Portal includes resources to support heritage learning and a section to support the Heritage Hero Award specifically.  The Award can be completed at school, at home and by different groups. Information and support is found on the portal pages.

The Heritage Hero Award is supported by staff in East Ayrshire Council’s Learning Outdoor Support Team.  Find out how one EAC primary school approached the award from this Crosshouse Primary Heritage Heroes case study.
