Why Do We Need Wild Spaces?

Why are wild spaces important?  Who/what benefits from wild spaces?

Read the newspaper quote below and then watch the video clip.

A two-hour “dose” of nature a week significantly boosts health and wellbeing, research suggests, even if you simply sit and enjoy the peace.

The physical and mental health benefits of time spent in parks, woods or the beach are well known … two hours in nature could join five a day of fruit and veg and 150 minutes of exercise a week as official health advice.

We Need Houses vs We Need our Wilderness

Noah takes his argument for saving the Wilderness to his local council.  He has to explain why the Wilderness should be saved.  He prepared his argument – made a list of the points he would make.

The builders would also prepare themselves for speaking in front of the council officers.   they would have a list of reasons why the houses should be built.

Ask someone in your household if they would do this activity with you.  One person can make the arguments for houses, the other for the Wilderness.

Below is a link to a table you can copy or print to set out your arguments for both sides.
