S1 pupils have begun the battle to be named Champion in our annual Dominoes Contest. We are now half way through the qualifying rounds before the Grand Final on Wednesday 14th December. Here are a few photos of Mr Wallace’s class in the Metro this week. Pupils seem to be having fun, even our senior helpers.

Minister for Local Government and Housing, Kevin Stewart and East Ayrshire Councillor, Douglas Reid attended the opening ceremony of the new housing development at Hill Street, Kilmarnock. The development itself will consist of affordable housing units. The event was attended by pupils from Kilmarnock Academy, Hillhead primary and St Joseph’s Academy who were involved in painting the hoarding around the perimeter of the site. They were awarded with a £250 cheque each by Cunninghame Housing Association Ltd for their efforts; this was presented to the art and design teachers and pupils at the event by SNP Minister Kevin Stewart.
The Kilmarnock Academy section of the mural was designed and created by S3 and S4 art & design pupils and our school was represented at the event by S3 pupils McKenzie Alston, Nicole Bulloch and S4 pupils Kerryanne Ferries, Robyn Riddell & Karra Pope.
Well done to all the pupils involved!

It’s Book Week Scotland. To celebrate, we have a book fair in the library until Wednesday. Book prices start at £2.99. There is also a scrambled letters quiz running this week with a prize for the pupil who gets the most correct answers. All pupils can visit the library to Post on our Wall. There’s a Story Café after school on Wednesday for pupils in S3 to S6 – come along, hear an extract from a book, have a chat and enjoy a cake! Happy reading 🙂
