Kilmarnock Academy

This programme involves pupils in S5 and S6 from Grange Academy, James Hamilton Academy and Stewarton Academy as well as Kilmarnock Academy. All pupils will apply for a job from the 17 adverts available to each school. With as big a selection of jobs, everyone will be able to find something suitable.

The application process is either completing an application form or supplying a CV (suitably tailored to the post) and a covering letter. Every job will throw up 6 candidates who will each have a 20 minute interview during the first fortnight in March and the successful candidate will be informed. 

The jobs adverts are posted below. All pupils in S5 and S6 will have an introductory talk next week at PSE time and the applications can go ahead thereafter. 

This programme of mock interviews is only possible because of the employers’ generosity. This is a superb opportunity for all of our pupils. I encourage them to make the most of it.

An information evening has been organised to support your son/daughter as they plan for progression and choices for the next stage of their education.

In order that you are fully aware of all the options which are available and the courses on offer we invite you to attend an information evening on Thursday 9th February at 7pm.

During this evening there will be a number of different people and sessions available to discuss how best to support your son/daughter, including

• Information on pathway choices
• Partner agencies including Skills Development Scotland and Ayrshire College
• Senior Management and Guidance Staff will be available to answer any questions which you may have.
This is a very important time for your son/daughter and it is vital that you are equipped with as much information as possible to assist your son/daughter to make the correct choices. We hope this information evening will go some way to ensuring this and reassuring you in terms of the new school curriculum.

Congratulations to Mr Rose who has been appointed Head Teacher of Kilmarnock Academy and will take up the role of Head Teacher for both schools following the merger next year. We wish him well in his new appointment.

Kilmarnock Academy’s War Memorial is a very special memorial within the school  in homage to the masters and pupils who gave their lives in the Great War. The memorial has been very well maintained by the school and is the location where we hold our Remembrance  Service every year.

Well done to all S1 pupils who took part in the annual dominoes competition, enhancing their numeracy skills. Pictured are all the finalists and the 6th year helpers from Mr McClurg’s class. The eventual winner receiving a voucher for a free dominoes pizza was Teigan Clark!
