Rapid Response Engineering Challenge

All new S2 pupils will participate in our annual Rapid Response Engineering Challenge to be held on Wednesday 31st May.  Pupils have been introduced to a scenario where they are the engineers in charge of helping their community to clean up and rebuild after a hurricane.

Last week, Mr Wallace, Miss McLeish and our guest Civil Engineer, Steven Scott from CH2M Hill in Glasgow, delivered the initial presentation to all new S2 pupils.  Pupils will now be preparing in classes across the school for our Activity Day which will focus on providing water, shelter, food, transportation and communication after a devastating hurricane.  For more information on Civil Engineering, please visit the educational resources from the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Pupils will work in both indoor and outdoor practical challenges in teams during the Activity Day.  They should come in casual clothing, and prepare to get wet!  We will also be collecting £1 per person for WaterAid,  an international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.  More information on our chosen charity can be found here.
