Inverclyde Residential

Pupils from Primary 7 are just back from an action packed 4 days at the National Sports Centre for Scotland at Inverclyde. They got to participate in  lots of different sports and activities and have come back all the richer for the experience. A great time was had by all! 🙌

National Handball Competition

Our first ever boys and girls handball teams were representing East Ayrshire at the recent national competition at Ravenscraig Sports Centre. This is not something we normally teach during our possession games block and the pupils only had a  4 week block after school club to prepare. The boys placed 6th out of 12 schools and the girls also placed 6th but out of 10 schools from all across Scotland. The pupils enjoyed the experience so much that we will now put handball into the PE curriculum. We would like to thank our Secondary Sports Leaders for a sterling job in getting the boys and girls prepared for competition in such a short space of time #goteamjimmy

Boys Dunlop Cup

Our boys football team have kicked off their group  stage in the Dunlop Cup with 2 defeats to very strong opposition in Nether Robertland and Onthank. The boys will need to regroup and try to pick up some points in their 2 remaining fixtures against Whatriggs on Tuesday 14th (Home)  and Darvel (Away) on the  Wednesday 22nd.

Boys Ayrshire Cup

Our boys football team have been knocked out of the Ayrshire Cup. We would like to thank the boys that stepped up last minute to play the game due to illness in the squad and of course our parents who always help with transport. We wish Troon the very best of luck in the semi-final.

Wall of Fame

Team Jimmy have  experienced a lot of success over the last couple of years in the competitions that they have entered. To recognise the achievements of our young people we have established our Wall of Fame display. This success has been due to our high quality PE, with opportunities to attend an afterschool club and experience competitive events. However,  what we are most proud of is the sportsmanship that our pupils display win, lose or draw. This is something we actively promote here at JHPS at all times #goteamjimmy

Physical Education Star of the Month

The Sports Committee have decided that pupils should be recognised for their efforts in PE and have come up with the idea of creating a certificate that will be awarded at assembly once a month by the Committee.  This can awarded to pupils for demonstrating good leadership, skills, effort and attitude. The display is up and we shall announce our first winner of this prestigious award at the end of the month 🌟

Wider School Achievement

At JHPS we recognise the achievements of pupil achievements both in and out of school. If you are a proud parent/carer and your child has had success in sport and would like your child to be displayed on our Wider School Achievement notice board then you can send a pic and blurb to Mr Shaw at david.shaw@eastayrshire.org.uk

Active Assembly

Primary 4-7 have been enjoying an extra block of football over the session as part of increasing pupils physical activity during school, whilst Primary 1-3 have been enjoying healthy walks and Zumba. This has proved very popular with pupils and a creative way of making the most of assembly time. ⚽️💃🕺

GIRLS AYRSHIRE CUP

Unfortunately, our Girls Football Team have been knocked out the Ayrshire Cup by a very strong Kingcase Primary.  We wish them all the best in the next round. The girls will dust themselves off and get ready for the East Ayrshire Cup which is scheduled for May 9th at the Ayrshire College.

Swimming

Our Primary 5s have just finished a 6 week block of swimming learning an essential life skill. The pupils have had a great time and this  something we hope they will continue to develop.
