Judo Visit

Our Primary 7s had a great time at Scotland’s oldest club based here in Kilmarnock. We would like to thank the coaches on such an amazing session as we continue to build pathways to local clubs here at JHPS. Pupils said it was “interesting”,  “I loved flipping my friends” and “I liked the coaches demonstrating a fight”. We hope to go back in the new year with another stage.

UKTC

I

We would like to thank Paul from UKTC for delivering taster sessions to our pupils in P3-6 and Gaelic Classes. As always, pupils had a blast!

We are always looking to build pathways to our local community clubs, if you know of any Clubs that would like to come and give taster sessions at the school then get in touch with Mr Shaw via the office.

The Killie Community

We would like to say a huge thank you to  The Killie Community team who having been working with our P4’s and P5’s over the last 4 weeks delivering football and also for providing an after school club. The kids have had a ball and are all the better for the experience 🙌

Intra-House Tug-of-War

A huge well done to the Sports Committee for the organising and delivery of our first House Competition of the session and annual part of the school calendar.  Each stage battled each other across the day and it was a huge success as always with pupils and staff having lots of fun! The points have been now been tallied and the pupils will find out what House has accumulated the most at tomorrow’s Assembly to find out our overall winners!

CROSS COUNTRY

Our P6 boys/girls and P7 boys/girls Cross Country teams were in action at the East Ayrshire Cross Country Championships. The pupils gave their all in a gruelling mile long race against some fantastic runners. We are pleased to announce that our P7 girls team came out on top to win the overall Team Award and are Champions of East Ayrshire! They got to parade their trophy around classes and we are all super proud of their achievement.

NEW KIT

The boys football team were pleased to try on their new tops courtesy of the Parent Fundraising Group. The Sports Committee had wrote a letter to the group to ask if it was possible and Debbie Murdoch was kind enough to deliver the tops and join in the photo opportunity.  Thanks again on behalf of the team.

SPORTS COMMITTEE

Here are the new Sports Committee for Session 23/24. We have representatives from P4-7, including our Gaelic Classes. Debbie Murdoch from the Parent Council has also joined the Committee and we appreciate her hard work on sourcing and applying for possible funding opportunities. As always our Active Schools Coordinator Faye Meikle will play a crucial role in sourcing volunteers and building pathways with local clubs to provide further opportunities for pupils. If you feel you would could help with any after school clubs please contact Mr Shaw at the school.

WELCOME TO SESSION 2023/24

Hey folks, we would like to welcome everyone back to session 2023/24 and an action packed year ahead in PE, Physical Activity and School Sport as we pursue our Gold Award with Sport Scotland. I would like to start by congratulating the pupils at the end of last session on their 4-3 victory in the Pupils V Teachers Football Match. It was a great end to the session!

The new Sports Committee has now been established and they have already gone about gathering info on the clubs they would like for this session.  They also felt that the school football clubs for girls and boys should be extended to P5 to allow pupils to develop at a younger age.  The clubs will begin this week with the P5-7 Girls on a Monday and the P5-7 Boys on a Tuesday.  Watch this space for all future info on clubs that we will be running!

GIRLS AYRSHIRE CHAMPIONS 2023

The girls football team have gone on to win the Ayrshire Cup beating the Champions of South Ayrshire (Forehill Primary) 2-0 in a thrilling game of football. This is a phenomenal achievement given this is our first ever girl’s team! It was a great turn out and spectators would have been pleased at the level of football played. We would like to thank the girls for all the effort they have put in this session and the way they have conducted themselves. They got to enjoy a McFlurry today and paraded their new trophy around classes! #goteamjimmy

SPORTS DAY EXTRAVAGANZA

Our new look Sports Day has been a real hit! It was great to have so many parents and families back through the gates. Our young people had an awesome time! It was a real team effort and I would like to thank all staff for making this run so smoothly.

The Blue House came out on top in the P4-7 and the Red House in the P1-3 but who will be our overall winners? All will be revealed at the next assembly!
