Intra House Potted Sports

Well done to all the pupils for giving their all in the Intra House Potted Sports competition. The winners will be announced at Assembly on Monday. That’s the pupils now had all 3 of their Intra House competitions. The 3 areas will make up 3 of the rotations next week for Sports Day and the pupils have also now all been put into heats for the flat/themed races.  We are all good to go!

P4-7 Sports Day will be from 9.30- 11.45

P1-3 Sports Day will be from 1.00-2.45

Hope to see everyone there and as always get limbering up for that all important parents race! 🙌

Intra House Football

Congratulations to the Blue House who came out victors in our annual  Intra House Football competition, winning 500 tokens for their House. Well done to our P7 Sports leaders who were excellent coaches and referees for the younger classes.

Physical Education – Outdoor/adventurous

Primary 7 have been doing extra PE this term and getting out into our local green spaces (Kay and Dean Park) piloting elements of the outdoor/adventurous part of the curriculum. They have been doing scavenger hunts, den building and orienteering. This has proved to be very popular with the pupils and next year they will buddy up with younger classes to enjoy the same experience. A huge thanks to all our parent helpers who helped support this initiative – it would not have been possible without them!

Maybole Community Campus Cup

Our boys football team were in action in the new Maybole Community  Campus Cup competition. It was an all day event with 12 schools battling it out. We managed to end up placing 3rd. It was good to see the boys bounce back from recent defeats in other competitions and play some really attractive football. We would like to thank Jamie Moan from St. Cuthberts for our invitation and praise a very well organised event.👏⚽️

Inverclyde Residential

Pupils from Primary 7 are just back from an action packed 4 days at the National Sports Centre for Scotland at Inverclyde. They got to participate in  lots of different sports and activities and have come back all the richer for the experience. A great time was had by all! 🙌

National Handball Competition

Our first ever boys and girls handball teams were representing East Ayrshire at the recent national competition at Ravenscraig Sports Centre. This is not something we normally teach during our possession games block and the pupils only had a  4 week block after school club to prepare. The boys placed 6th out of 12 schools and the girls also placed 6th but out of 10 schools from all across Scotland. The pupils enjoyed the experience so much that we will now put handball into the PE curriculum. We would like to thank our Secondary Sports Leaders for a sterling job in getting the boys and girls prepared for competition in such a short space of time #goteamjimmy

Boys Dunlop Cup

Our boys football team have kicked off their group  stage in the Dunlop Cup with 2 defeats to very strong opposition in Nether Robertland and Onthank. The boys will need to regroup and try to pick up some points in their 2 remaining fixtures against Whatriggs on Tuesday 14th (Home)  and Darvel (Away) on the  Wednesday 22nd.

Boys Ayrshire Cup

Our boys football team have been knocked out of the Ayrshire Cup. We would like to thank the boys that stepped up last minute to play the game due to illness in the squad and of course our parents who always help with transport. We wish Troon the very best of luck in the semi-final.
