We would like to welcome everyone back to all the goings on in P.E. and School Sport here at JHPS for session 2025/26, as we go for another Gold Flag with Sport Scotland Schools Award.
We would like to begin with some of the highlights from the end of last session, which saw lots of awards being presented, building partnerships with our local clubs, Intra House/Sports Day Competitions, the Teacher V Pupils grudge match and JHPS becoming Champions of the Active Schools Competitive Calendar for the first time.
Firstly, we would like to say a huge well done to Jace and James who refereed at competitive games for the school football teams and built up some extra time for their Sports Leader Award.

Next, the results of the Intra House Potted Sports and Tug-a-War competitions:
Potted Sports:
First Place – Green
Second Place – Yellow
Third Place – Blue
Fourth Place – Red
Tug-a-War:
First Place – Blue
Second Place – Green
Third Place – Red
Fourth Place – Yellow
These events led nicely into our Sports Day Extravaganza, where we trialled a new set up. It was a huge success and all feedback was very positive. Here are the Sports Day results and our overall House Winners for session 2024/25. Erika was extremely proud to pick up the Victory Shield for her house.
First Place – Blue (congratulations on being House Champions)!
Second Place – Green
Third Place – Red
Fourth Place – Yellow

Congratulations to the the girls football team and their coach Mrs Fulton who won the East Ayrshire Tier 3 Cup. It was a nail biting affair with the score being 2-2 against a well organised Netherthird Team. Extra time could not split the teams either and it went to penalties. The JHPS girls managed to hold their nerve and converted all their shots. Go Team Jimmy!

Congratulations to our Athletics Team who finished fourth place at the Sportshall Athletics Final. They gave their all in true JHPS fashion. A special mention to Ellis who is only in P4!

The most important match of the year Teachers V Pupils! The pupils chose handball for the sport this year. However, it was the teachers who came out on top for the second year running (poor wains lol)!

Well done to all the P7’s who received their Bronze, Silver and Gold Sports Leader awards at prize giving.

Congratulations to Ellis and Kaitlin on their P.E. Star of the Month Awards for May and June. Kaitlin also went on to win our Eric Liddell Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award at Prize Giving. She was part of the athletics, cross country, netball, handball, and football teams. She was also selected to represent the girls East Ayrshire District football team. It was great to see her grow in confidence as the year went on – a worthy winner!

Finally, an award that recognises the achievements of our young people over the session – The Active Schools Competitive Calendar for the Kilmarnock Cluster. We were very proud to receive this award for the first time and is testimony to all the hard work of our young people, coaches, volunteers, Active Schools, parents and Headteacher.

We are already back in the thick of things for session 2025/26 and we will be posting info on all the extra curricular activities going on, as well as, the Sports Committee who will drive forward initiatives for the session. Stay tuned!
