It’s Official!

It is with great pride that we announce that we have achieved our SportScotland Gold School Sport Award. The reward represents that our school has shown excellent practice across the core areas of the Award and demonstrated an on-going commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport.

This has been a real team effort from everyone involved in our school community. We would particularly like to thank Faye Miekle our Active Schools Coordinator for all her hard work towards this award and wish her the best of luck in her new post. You have been an absolute star ⭐️ #goteamjimmy

And that, is a wrap for session 23/24. 🙌

Highland Games

Miss Raeburn hosted a fantastic end of term whole school event to promote Sport and Language with our partner school Sgoil na Coille Nuaidh. Pupils got to participate in numerous events like ‘toss the caber,’ ‘welly throwing’ and ‘highland dancing’ to name but a few. Additionally, the pupils from the Gaelic classes had prepared video tutorials of sporting phrases for all classes that could used at the games. The pupils had a truly Scottish sporting experience 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Pupils V Teachers

At the end of last session we introduced the new end of term battle of Pupils V Teachers 👊 The pupils chose football last session and  won the prestigious trophy narrowly 4-3. This session the teachers were out for revenge and chose netball for this no holds barred duel. The height advantage certainly worked in their favour with a 15-2 rout of the pupils. It was an awesome event and everyone had so much fun 😂 Thanks to the secondary sports leaders for umpiring and coaching the pupil team. Good luck at University Amber and Daniel and thank you for all the volunteering you did with us this session 🙌

End of Term Awards

With 1 sleep to go we are all getting ready to have a well earned rest. I would to just like to draw your attention to some of the awards that have been given out recently.

PE Star of the Month  was Amy Jamieson in P7 who has demonstrated  outstanding team work and cooperation in PE.

Girls Football:

Players Player – Zoe Black P7

Managers Player – Amy Jamieson P7

We would like to thank Miss Patterson for all her hard work with the girls this year and wish her good luck in her new post; the progress the girls made this year was phenomenal 🙌

Boys Football :

Players Player – Arran Taylor P5 (This is the first time someone so young has won this award and is credit to the Sports Committee who requested that the school club age should be lowered to allow P5s to join).

Managers Player – Lucas Morrison P7

Eric Liddel Award: We had introduced this award last year to recognise outstanding achievement in sport both in and out of school and to celebrate 100 years of this great athletes legacy.  This year the award went to Emily Mathieson in P7. Emily has competed with the school in local and national competitions for football, netball, handball, athletics and cross country. Emily is also a competitive swimmer and won a silver medal for her age group in a national competition. A very worthy winner ⚽️🏐🏊🤾‍♀️🏅

A huge congratulations to all our winners 🙌
