TERM 4 2023/2024
LITERACY & LANGUAGE
Primary 1
In Term 4 we will be learning about joined phonemes – wh, ph, ee, oo, ck, ai & oy. We will also have our new spelling words to learn each week. We use our spelling words and phoneme sounds to help us write independently whilst remembering to use our finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. We will continue to work our way through stage 3 in our Oxford Reading Tree books and continue to learn our key vocabulary.
Primary 2
In Term 4, we will be continuing to learn new phonemes as part of our Active Literacy and how to say, make, break, blend, read and write them in words. We will be exploring instructional writing and using bossy words to create a step by side guide.
Numeracy & Maths
Primary 1
This term we will continue to fine tune our subtracting skills and use Number Talks to enhance our bank of mental strategies when adding and subtracting within 10 and beyond. We will also be learning about money – learning to recognise the coins and investigating how to pay for some items. We will then move on to learning about time – reading digital and analogue clocks showing o’clock times
Primary 2
This term, we will be learning to use money to 99p. We will also be learning to count on and back from a given number to add and subtract up to 100. In maths we will be looking at developing our knowledge of time to o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to the hour.
Health & Wellbeing
This term, we will be learning about our rights and how I can communicate these rights with others. We will also be learning to accept the responsibility of these rights and how we show respect for the rights of others.
In PE we will be learning to play golf, boccia and frisbee by moving objects from a start to a set target. We will also be playing cricket and rounders and learning to move our bodies to a space in order to score a point.
Interdisciplinary Learning
Our topic for this term is The Sun and The Moon. We will be learning about their differences and why we have night and day. We will also be looking at different materials for clothes and will be linking this to the weather and the seasons.
