Primary 1

In Term 2 we will be continuing to learn our phonemes and spelling words. We will be working hard to write independently, our teachers will be encouraging us to ‘have a go’ using the phonemes we know. We will also start to read our Dandelion Decodable reading books.

Primary 2

In Term 2,  we will be continuing to learn new phonemes as part of our Active Literacy and how to say, make, break, blend, read and write them in words. We will also be learning to write character descriptions of our class books using exciting adjectives.

Numeracy & Maths

Primary 1

This term, we will be exploring numbers to 20. We will learn what each number represents, how to write the numbers and how to sequence numbers. We will also investigate and explore how to measure the length and weight of everyday items.

Primary 2

This term, we will be learning how to use place value to 100 using concrete materials and using number rods. We will also be linking addition and subtraction facts within 10. We will develop our knowledge of money, including the use of coins up to £2. We will continue to explore 2D and 3D shape and discuss their properties.

Health & Wellbeing

This terms, due to the darker nights we will be learning how to keep ourselves safe in the dark. We will also be exploring how to form positive relationships and be a good friend to others.

When we are at PE, we will be developing our use of racket skills.

Interdisciplinary Learning

Our topic for this term is ‘The Human Body’.  We will be learning about the skeleton, the organs and the senses.

We will also be exploring ‘Energy in the home’. We will learn about the different sources of energy.
