Literacy

Primary 1

In Term 2 we will be continuing to learn our phonemes and spelling words. We will be working hard to write independently, our teachers will be encouraging us to ‘have a go’ using the phonemes we know. We will also start to read our Dandelion Decodable reading books.

Primary 2

In term 2 we will be continuing to say, make, break and blend  words with our new joined phonemes. We will also be using our description bubbles to help us to write character descriptions. As part of our Grammar activities we will be learning to put words into alphabetical order.

 

Numeracy

 

Primary 1

This term, we will be exploring numbers to 20. We will learn what each number represents, how to write the numbers and how to sequence numbers. We will also be learning to measure and weigh everyday household items.

 

Primary 2

This term we will be counting on and back and ordering numbers to 50. We will be partitioning 2 digit numbers into tens and ones and recognising the role of 0 as a place holder. In Mathematics we will be learning to recognise, name and discuss the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

 

Health and Wellbeing

 

In PE we will be taking part in possession games and learning to maintain possession to score points in basketball and netball.

We will be learning how to stay safe in the dark and finding out about suitable clothing to wear at night time.

 

Social Subjects

This term we will be learning about the human body including the skeleton and the vital organs.
