This term in Literacy, we are learning to use Say, Make, Break and Blend to help us read and spell words with our new joined phonemes.
This term in Writing, our class will be working hard to become independent writers. We will be learning how to build sentences using the correct structure, including capital letters at the beginning of sentences, finger spaces between each word and full stops at the end.
In reading, we will be learning new comprehension strategies using our new and exciting reading books. Alongside these, we will be learning and practising a range of comprehension strategies to help us become confident readers.
This term in Numeracy, we will be working on lots of new skills to build our confidence with numbers. We will be consolidating our Addition and Subtraction skills and looking at fact families to help us see the connection between addition and subtraction. We will be using Number Talks to develop our mental maths strategies. The class will also be looking at how to use tally marks and how to organise this information into a bar graph and pictogram.
In Health and Wellbeing we will be creating our class charter in line with the UNCRC articles. From this we will be developing our understanding of our 3 school values, SAFE, KIND AND RESPECTED. Later in the term we will be learning about different types of medicines and medicine safety. We will be celebrating our success with regular stickers, points and certificates.
Our topic this term is Vets and Pets. We will be exploring what animals are safe to have as pets, what animals need to survive, how to look after animals we have as pets and the role of a vet and what they do in their job. We will be linking this to science and health and wellbeing- developing the young work force.
