TERM 3 2023/2024
Literacy & Language
Primary 1
In Term 3 we will continue to learn our single phonemes and will start to learn some joined phonemes. We will also have our new spelling words to learn each week. We will then use our phonemes and spelling words to help us start to write independently whilst remembering to use our finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.
Primary 2
In Term 3, we will be continuing to learn new phonemes as part of our Active Literacy and how to say, make, break, blend, read and write them in words. We will be exploring imaginative writing which will compliment our topic ‘Fairyland’. We will also be learning the structure of acrostic poems.
Numeracy and Maths
Primary 1
This term we will start to learn about the concept of addition. We will learn about adding zero, adding 1, adding 2 and then we will start to explore number stories.
We will also explore the properties of 2D shapes.
We will investigate simple fractions and how to share items equally.
To learn about information handling, we will explore how to sort and organise objects and information. We will learn how to display and interpret information in pictograms.
Primary 2
This term, we will be learning about halves and quarters of a whole. We will also explore doubles and near doubles to 20. In maths we will be looking at developing our knowledge of length, weight and volume using standard units.
Health & Wellbeing
This term, we will be learning about medicines and how substances can affect my health and well being.
In PE we will taking part in team games. We will be learning to work as part of a team and learning the skill of maintaining possession to score goals, points and tries.
Interdisciplinary Learning
Our topic for this term is ‘Fairyland’. We will be learning about the mystical creatures through a variety of literacy and art approaches.
We will also be exploring ‘My local community’. We will learn about the different amenities available and ways that we can help our local community.
