This week for Maths Monday, Playroom 2 and 3 explored colour matching and sorting through hands-on play ![]()
The children enjoyed grouping objects by colour, matching items together, and talking about what they could see. Through play-based learning, they began to notice similarities and differences while building early maths understanding in a fun and engaging way.

What skills were we developing?
Colour recognition
Sorting and categorising
Early problem-solving
Visual discrimination
Language development (naming colours and describing objects)
Concentration and focus
Fine motor skills
Early mathematical thinking
These activities help build strong foundations for future maths learning — all while having lots of fun!
