We have been working hard to use different sources of information to create an information sheet about King Tutankhamun. We were amazed that he became king at 9 years old. The same age as some people in our class!

P3/4 have been learning about the importance of the River Nile to the Ancient Egyptians. They learnt that they used a device called a shaduf to help collect water from the river.
The class worked in groups to design and create their own shaduf.
Take a look at our Achievements page to see the most recent update showcasing the talents and efforts of some of the amazing pupils from our class.
P3/4 were so excited to receive replies from our Pen-Pal letters in Spain! We loved reading all about our new friends!
We had lots of fun playing a game learning about apostrophes for contractions. Each learner was given a card and then they had to race around the class to find their “contraction twin” – 1 card had the contraction and 1 card had the full form.
We have been learning about nouns, adjectives and verbs. Ask your child at home if they can explain what these terms mean and can they give examples.
In class, we were given 3 minutes in a team to sort the nouns, adjectives and verbs. Everyone worked hard and lots of good discussion took place.
We then used pictures as stimulus to create our own excellent sentence containing a noun, adjective and verb. Mrs Conetta was extremely impressed!
As part of our Scottish fortnight, P3/4 are learning about different Scottish Inventors. Today we learnt about John Logie Baird who invented the first TV.
After learning about his life and creating a timeline of significant events, we worked in groups to create our own mini TVs!
P3/4 have enjoyed Book Week Scotland.
We have loved having visitors in to our classroom to read to us – thank you to P7 pupils, parents and author, Hannah Willow.
We thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘My Police on Patrol’ and meeting the kids officers with their car and police horses!
P3 pupils had a great morning with their families completing activities and receiving their Read, Write, Count bags.
P4 had fun making origami bookmarks.
The mobile library visited us this week too.

We have been working hard on place value. Today we completed a table top challenge to partition numbers. We using Base 10 to explore the column value e.g. 157= 1 hundred, 5 tens, 7 units and the quantity value e.g. 100, 50 and 7.
Our morning starters change weekly and we have been focusing on the alphabet. Each table has a different activity and then they rotate each day so everyone gets a chance to explore each activity.
We have been ordering the alphabet in small letters, in capital letters, matching the small letter to capital letters and identifying the letters before and after.
