RRS World Cup Cultures – USA

Primary 3 have loved learning about different cultures involved in the World Cup this summer. Today was our last celebration of a Host country: USA! In PE we worked on our “soccer” skills. We celebrated America by learning the number of states and the meaning behind the flag. Then, we took part in some country and western-style dances and had a Disney movie quiz. After lunch, we worked out some Disney maths questions.

Thank you to the RRS Committee for creating these activities. We can’t wait to have more World Cup fun over the next few weeks!

RRS World Cup Cultures – Mexico

Primary 3 had a fantastic day on Monday, learning about Mexico! We learned about the geography and climate of Mexico, the origins of the country and made comparisons to Scotland. We took part in music activities based on the move, “CoCo” and enjoyed trying some nachos with optional salsa, cheese and guacamole.

Fingers crossed that Scotland do well and get to play in Mexico in the knock-out stages!

P3 – Vatenfall visit

Thank you so much to Carol from Vattenfall for paying us a visit to talk about different types of energy today. We learned so much more about the power of wind and Primary 3 really enjoyed learning about different job possibilities at a wind farm.

Some pupils were lucky enough to be chosen randomly to use the Vattenfall Virtual Reality headset to see the inside and the top of a real wind turbine!

P3 – Scottish Inventors

Primary 3 have enjoyed learning about many Scottish inventions to start off 2026. The pupils chose which Scottish inventions to find out more about. Here are just some examples of their learning.

We investigated fingerprints. P3 enjoyed identifying the fingerprints of the teachers in school and then looked at their own for unique markings.

We investigated the history of golf. We found out about a local golf course and made our own mini golf courses.

We learned about the person who invented the kaleidoscope and had a go at making our own.

We found out that ice hockey originates from the Scottish game of Shinty.

There are so many more Scottish inventions that we have covered, as you can see in the photo above. Maybe our class has a famous inventor of the future!
