The CIRCLE Primary resource, is primarily aimed at teachers supporting children aged 5-11 years. It brings together and shares good practice, focusing on approaches to improve the engagement and achievement of learners with additional support needs.
The CIRCLE Framework
- supports the development of Inclusive Classrooms as best practice.
- provides a quick accessible reference point which provides practical solutions to address learner’s needs.
- provides a learner-centred approach.
- provides tools to support documenting evidence of assessment & input.
- provides a reflective framework & training resource for education staff.
- provides suggestions for successful collaborative working
The resources utilises two assessments:
- CIRCLE Inclusive Classroom Scale (CICS) which looks at the impact of the environment on all learners and
- CIRCLE Participation Scale (CPS) which has been designed as an initial assessment to give an overview of an individual learner’s strengths and potential areas for development in teh context of the physical and social environment, structures & routines, motivation and six key skill areas.
