Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

We have been so busy on the lead up to the Christmas holidays and have enjoyed every minute of it!

We got to go on a trip to the Dick Institute in Kilmarnock to view our amazing Quentin Blake illustrations. While we were there we also got to take part in an art workshop and got a tour of the museum! The staff there were so generous and gave us art supplies to use in class for free. We are so grateful and to show this P4/5 wrote and sent Thank You letters to the staff.

We also had the best time at our Christmas party with the P3 class. We danced our feet off and had lots of fun!

Today we are celebrating with another movie afternoon that P4/5 got by following all class expectations this term and achieving lots of bingo points!

We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2023 when it comes ❤️

What we’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks!

We have been super busy over the last couple of weeks with our learning! We completed our learning about money and are now focusing on multiplication and division!

We created our beautiful Christmas Cutlery holders for the Christmas Fayre, as well as that we created our own class  ‘Acts of Kindness’ advent calendar and have been learning about the meaning of advent and how it is celebrated.

We have also been focusing on our writing targets… We even wrote our targets on the table so we wouldn’t forget them!

Weekly Update!

P4/5 have been working hard this week on all different areas of the curriculum. We have been continuing our learning about money with P4s practicing money sums using a calculator and the P5s learning how to add, subtract, multiply and divide money!

In art this week we started something super exciting to put into the Christmas Fayre. We will be finishing our creations off next week and we can’t wait to show you them all!

In Health and Wellbeing this week we started to learn about our Term topic of Substance misuse. P4s have been looking into where medicine actually comes from and P5s have been learning the differences between substances that can help us (medicine) and substances that are not good for us (smoking etc).

We are looking forward to the Progress meetings tomorrow where we can all meet and discuss how the P4/5s are doing in their learning!

Fun Fractions!

Over the last few weeks we have been learning all about fractions. We have learned to identify fractions; order fractions; find a fraction of a number and also identify equivalent fractions!

As well as that, P5 have also been learning how to simplify fractions and have been introduced to decimal points!

Here are some pictures of us working as a class to find equivalent fractions using paper plates. First we had to colour in our fraction and then we had to search the classroom for a partner/s that had an equivalent fraction to match.
