Fun Friday!

We have had great fun today doing lots of different activities!

This morning we started our day doing a senses taste test to try and guess what type of food we were eating. The children were fantastic at identifying the different types of food and describing the textures, taste and smell of each one. As you can probably tell by some of the facial reactions they were not a fan of the lemon!

For lunch we enjoyed having our whole school picnic outside and had a wee dance afterwards.

This afternoon we have been decorating our coronation biscuits and creating some beautiful crowns!

P4/5 Beautiful Collages

Over the last two weeks P4/5 have been working so hard to create these stunning collage pictures of Sunflowers! We explored different textures, materials and strategies to bring our pictures together. They have been so resilient and patient with the process which has resulted in such beautiful art work, which  is now proudly displayed in the corridor to brighten up everyone’s day!

Science Fun!

This morning we have been having lots of fun mixing different materials and figuring out how we can separate them again using problem solving. We used different tools to help us and made predictions of what we thought would happen.

All teams were very successful separating their materials and had lots of fun doing it!

P4\5 Update!

Over the last few weeks P4/5 have been busy working hard in class. We have now finished our maths topic Time and have moved into Data Handling which the pupils are doing amazing in!

We have also been looking at materials in science, focusing on how to mix and separate different mixtures. Here are some pictures of our Salt and Water experiment where we used heat from the sun to evaporate the water leaving the salt crystals.

We also enjoyed celebrating World Book Day by doing a book swap with P5/6 and P6/7. We loved spending time with our friends and family reading the books.

Burns Celebration Assembly!

We had such a lovely time during the Burns Celebration Assembly last week, listening to all of the wonderful poems each class had been learning and also listening to all the Scottish music played by the strings and sang by the P6/7 class.

P4/5 are so proud of our 3 Scottish poem competitors who read their poem out to the whole school. All three of them done amazing and they should be so proud of their achievements!

New Math Topic!

This week P4/5 started their new math topic… Time!

We have been doing some recapping of O’clock, Quarter Past, Half past and Quarter to, as well as identifying the main features of a clock (hands).

We have also started looking at how to read the clock by counting up in 5s. Understanding where on the clock it would be past the hour, and where it would be towards the hour.

Next week p4 will be converting into digital time and p5 will be looking at time durations!

P4/5 School Scottish Art Competition

P4/5 have been working super hard creating these beautiful pieces of tartan for our School Scottish Art competition. We created the tartan by weaving different coloured paper. The children were also given the opportunity to independently display their art by mounting it onto background paper.

The Primary 3 class will be judging our art work and choosing their top 3 favourite pieces later on this afternoon.
