What makes you unique?

Draw a lovely picture of yourself, or someone else in your family, or friends. Talk about what makes everyone different. You could discuss hair colours, lengths, eye colours. We all look, sound and act differently etc, and this is what makes us all unique and special. We love that we are all different!

Friendships

Encourage your child to explore their understanding of friendships and what they could do to make friends. e.g Smile, ask them if they want to play?

Talk to them about the different friends they have at nursery, home, dancing, football, etc. Ask them to name their friends or write their names for them to attempt to copy. Why do they like playing with that friend?

Ask them to draw a picture of what they like to do with their friends.

Explore feelings. What makes friends sad? What can they do to make their friends happy?

Outdoor Larning – Design a Crown

 Design a Crown

What You will need

Paper cut into strips

Double sided sticky tape or sellotape folded over

A variety of petals, grass, leaves, stones, moss, bark off of a tree ( just what ever you can find that you think looks interesting and decorative).

How to make your crown

Palace the tape onto the strips of paper encouraging your child to find natural materials to stick onto the tape.

Once your child has decorated the paper place the paper around their head and  join the ends together with some more tape.

You could make bracelets to give to family and friends as a gift.

Have fun!

Getting ready for Primary 1

Let’s play games

Children should begin recognising numbers as a quantity by counting 1-1 and understanding that the last number they say is the amount they have.

There are lots of fun and active ways to do this throughout the day.

Try the fun games on www.topmarks.co.uk with your child to practise simple early maths skills which will also help to build your child’s confidence. Most children love playing games and it’s an easy way to support their learning.

Home Learning

Kyle has been thinking about what he needs to buy for going to school.  I love your choice of lunch bag and water bottle. It is important to drink lots of water to help you think better.   Who is your favourite superhero?

Outdoor Learning – Bird Watching

Bird Watching

In my garden I have been listening to the birds sing and watching them flying and landing I my garden, on my garden fence and the roof of my house.

Today why not watch the birds that are in your garden and find out what they are called. Use the internet or books to fund out interesting facts about the birds you see, for example their name, where they like to nest, do they live here all year long or do they migrate etc.

The link below takes you to the RSPB website and a tool on how to identify some of the birds you might see.
