Feelings pictures

Let’s explore our understanding of feelings through art and craft.

Get creative! Gather some string, paints, pens etc. Draw pictures of faces on each paper and write down it’s emotion.

Practice fine motor skills and cut around your picture to make feeling cards. The cards can be kept to refer to when discussing emotions.

Why don’t you play a guessing game with someone? Change your facial expression and moods, and see if you can guess each other’s emotions! Then at the end make a smiley face to make each other laugh!

Monkey Hear, Monkey DO

Another listening game.  Make up a rhythm of sounds and get someone to copy.  You have to listen carefully to make sure they are doing the same as you.  Start simple and add more actions as you get better at copying.

You can use your hands, spoons, wooden blocks, stones or any other objects that will make a noise.

Here are some examples.

tap together  X 2, repeat this and begin to add more taps, if you can’t manage one amount go back to the number you were good at.

Tap together, tap the floor, tap together tap the floor.  When you have mastered this rhythm, try two taps of each and add  more if you wish.

Outdoor Learning – Gardening

Gardening

Today help to take care of your garden. Ask an adult to help you pull out all of those pesky weeds.

This is a great way to learn the difference between weeds and plants which are growing in your garden as well as excellent exercise. The reward is a nice tidy garden to play in.

Have fun!

This activity is great for colour matching. Sorting and matching letters and numbers, identifying sounds.

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Fill the bin about half full of water.

  2. Pour all the letters and/or numbers into the plastic bin.

  3. Arrange the cupcake molds or bowls next to the bin.

4 Give your child the spoon and ask them to scoop a certain Colour, number or letter.

  1. Once the molds were full of letters and numbers, dump them all back in the water and started filling them up again.
