Tapping Clapping Jumping Syllables

Can you remember the animals in this weeks story?  There was a snake, a tiger, an elephant, a lion, a monkey and a crocodile.

I wonder if you can clap or tap the animal names,

  • snake = 1 clap
  • ti-ger = 2 clap
  • el-e-phant = 3 claps, etc

To help you count the number of syllables in the words you could maybe make some stepping stones or draw a number line in your garden.  Jump as you say each sound, the number you land on will tell you how many syllables in the word.

Oudoor Learning – Move Like Minibeasts

Move Like Minibeasts

While out in your garden you find lots of minibeasts like worms, butterfly’s and spiders. Lets see if you can make the movements of the mini beasts you find.

Lie on the ground and wiggle like a worm.

Flap your arms like a butterfly fluttering its wings.

Put your hands on the floor and scuttle about like a spider.

Do some giant leaps like a cricket.

Crawl on the ground then curl up into a ball like a snail.

Creating patterns

Over the last couple of days we have been looking at different patterns.

Today I wonder if you can create a pattern using objects you have around the house.

Here are some pictures to give you some ideas.

These patterns are made using crayons and pegs, you can use whatever you fancy.

It would be great to see some photos of your patterns.

Shaving Foam People

Hi everyone!

Todays task is to explore with shaving foam or fairy liquid. Use your fine motor skills and your imagination to create your very own shaving foam person using your fingers, I hope you are able to identify your head, shoulders, knees and toes! oh and dont forget your eyes, ears, mouth and nose to.

You can also try to write your own name and other peoples!

If you don’t have shaving foam try fairy liquid as it turns white when you mix it on a table 🙂

Have fun!

Practicing Social skills

  • Practising conversations. Giving your child time to talk – and also time when they have to listen – teaches vital speaking and listening skills. You could take turns to talk about the best part of your day. Encourage them to ask questions to find out more.  When you ask  your child later, can they remember what your favourite part of the day was?

  • Encouraging sharing and tolerance. Sharing games such as Snakes and Ladders let children practise social skills and turn-taking. Be sure to use the language of turn-taking, like ‘Whose turn is it next?’ and ‘Thank you for waiting’.

Get your sleeves rolled up and spring clean all of your cars, bikes and scooters. Use plenty of hot soapy water and a sponge or cloth. Don’t get too wet and have lots of fun.
