I hope you enjoy listening to this fun story.  There is lots or repetition, can you join in?

Listen out for rhyming words and words with the same sound at the beginning.

Active challenges

Who’s ready for some active challenges? We will need to use good concentration for these ones…and they are also good for developing our hand and eye coordination.

Use a toilet roll cardboard, stick a ball to fit on the top, see if you can balance it on the top as you walk.

Using a large material sheet/sheet of newspaper, use a ball and see if you can slowly roll it to each other in the air, without it dropping onto the ground. Can you count to 10 or more in a row?

Can you roll a hula hoop along the ground to a friend and then catch it when they roll it back to you?

Floating and sinking

Good morning everyone, on this glorious Monday morning.

We have made it through May and hopefully the worst of the situation.

I think most of you will have had great fun playing with water over the weekend. I know my family did. As it’s to be another glorious day today why not play a guessing game. Find lots of different objects around the house and garden and guess if they will float or sink.

You can do this in a paddling pool, basin or even your bath. Have fun.

Outdoor Learning – Tent Building

Tent Building

Last week I gave you ideas on how to build tents for your toys. Today you could build a tent for you and your family to play in, read stories or even have your lunch.  Have fun!

You will need
A variety of
Tarpaulin or sheets
Rope
Toggles
Tent Pegs
Paper and pens

Instructions
As your child to design how they think the tent should look.
Gather all of their ideas and then encourage your child to help you to build the tent.

Problem solving
Questions to ask during this process could include…
How do you think we could make the tent more stable?
How can we make sure that it is big enough for us to fit inside?
Is it wind and waterproof? (Test this out if the water will get in the tent by spraying with a hose to see if the water will get in.)
What other items could we use to make the tent sturdier, taller, etc?

Random acts of kindness

It’s the little things that can make all the difference…Lets make someone else feel better.

Why don’t you make a happy card or picture for a friend or someone in your family? What do you like about them? If you live nearby, you could surprise them by dropping it through their letterbox. It’s nice to get a surprise!

Lets explore this further…

How else can we be kind?

Share our toys, help someone to do a job, make someone smile, tidy up our toys etc.

ABC Go Fish

Happy Friday!

The last activity for the week!

For this game, You will need paper, scissors and a pen or alphabet cards.
Cut a piece of paper into squares. Write one letter on each square of paper, writing two of each letters ( having 2 sets of the same letter).

Starting off with only 3 letters. Deal 3 cards to your child and 3 to yourself. Take turns asking ‘do you have a….’ and select a letter from your hand. If a pair is found lay then face down. The game is finished when all cards are paired.

if your child finds this to easy then add more cards.

you can extend this activity by asking your child if they know objects with the same letter or has the same letter in the word.

Have  a lovely weekend everyone. Remember to wear your sun cream ☀️.
