Supporting your child’s independence with solving simple problems
Encourage your child to resolve problems by talking when they don’t understand or something isn’t going well.
Create simple patterns and ask your child to continue this on or draw a pattern. Try using different materials for drawing such as pencils, pens, paint or chunky chalk outdoors.
Encourage your child to compare sizes/weights. What can you do to make both sides weigh the same? You can add this experience into snack preparation or even bake a cake together.
Support the development of fine motor skills to support early writing techniques. This is all about using pincer grip through activities such as threading, manipulating playdough, Hammering golf tee’s or nails into playdough/boxes/wood
It is important that children also learn when to ask an adult for help.
