Worm Charming

Worm charming, worm grunting, and worm fiddling are methods of attracting earthworms out from the ground. It is usually done to collect bait for fishing, but it can also be a sport. Most worm charming methods involve vibrating the soil, which encourages the worms to the surface. One method involves stamping your feet on the ground and watching carfully as the worms come to the surface.

How to charm

While outdoors today stamp on the grass or mud really fast. This should attract the worms to the top of the surface. This is what birds do to attract some lunch! You can watch the worms as they wiggle about or very carefully pick them up to examine them.

What do they look like?

How do they feel?

Low long are they?

What is the biggest worm you have charmed?

Once you have looked at the worms make sure you place them carefully back onto the grass or soil and give your hands a really good wash.
