Primary 6 Dalrymple Primary

Primary 6 had lots of Halloween fun- we wrote chiller imaginative stories, completed a beetle drive and created spiderweb Zentangle artwork. Have a safe and spooky weekend everyone!

Primary 6 have been working hard since coming back to school this term. Here is an overview of what we will be getting up to and learning about in term 2. We will be continuing to work on our Reading, Writing and Numeracy skills and are looking forward to learning about Planet Earth, weather and improving our mapping skills outdoors!

Term 2 overview

Primary 6 were asked to think of a simple snack they enjoy and can make on their own. They were asked to write a set of instructions which others could follow to make their snack.

Here is Christopher’s instruction to make cheese and crackers and MacKenzie’s to make a sandwich, well done you two!

Primary 6 were challenged with creating a short poem inspired by a word they like the sound of. They followed instructions from poet Simon Mole to think about their characters traits, and used their ideas to create a poem. Here are a couple of examples of their ideas- they have used imagination and really thought about what the word they have chosen makes them think of. Well done boys.

Primary 6 have been busy using their writing skills to write a setting description of the zoo using the five senses.  Christopher typed his, added colour and different fonts with pictures. Well done.

Primary 6 were asked to create an imaginative character for a small piece of writing. They were asked to draw a sketch, think of a name for their character and them describe their, looks, personality and actions. We have some creative ideas – here are Malysha’s and Sophie’s, well done.

Primary 6 have been revising some negative numbers work we looked at earlier in Term 3. We discussed lots of real life examples of where we would see negative numbers and competed calculations involving them. Here is some of Malysha’s work from home, well done.

We have been revisiting using the past tense and changing sentences from present tense to past tense.

Some people have bee choosing to type their work to improve their typing skills- well done Murron.

One of the first tasks Primary 6 completed was writing a letter to Mrs Millar. They explained their feelings about learning from home and what they had been spending their time doing. Some people are dancing, reading, at home PE and arts and crafts!

Primary 6 have been continuing to work on their spelling skills at home and have been looking at new sets of homophones.

They have been using then in context to show they understand their meaning, well done McKinley.
