It’s time to practice our athletics events.

  High jump, hurdles and long jump.

We are trying to complete some of the STEM science challenge cards. WE did ‘Strong as a Straw’ and ‘Scaredy Pepper’. We are using our observation and thinking skills to work out what is happening and why.

We used different art techniques to make houses. We used block printing to represent bricks and roof tiles. We stuck porridge oats on with glue to represent roughcast. We made a street with all of our houses.

We made a class book all about our houses. When it was finished we had a competition to design the front cover. Kathryn’s front cover got most votes from the children and was the winner.

Out and about in the village looking at different buildings. We have been learning about different types of buildings and what materials they are made with.

We loved sharing our favourite stories on World Book Day.

We are using rods and hand spans to measure things around the classroom.

We are learning about buildings. We had a problem solving challenge to pick and use the best materials to make a building with four walls and a roof.

A fantastic day exploring Burns’ country and learning about the life of Robert Burns.

We have built our own Burns Cottage in the classroom. We covered the walls to make them look like stone and put on a thatched roof.

As part of our Scotland topic we made tartan hats. We will wear them at our Burns celebration.

Getting fit in the New Year.

The children have been building their fitness at different fitness stations.

We carved out pumpkins for Hallowe’en and then we had to write out a set of instructions.

Our STEM challenge today was building spaghetti bridges. We had to choose the best materials to use and work together to build a bridge that would stand up all by itself.

P6 worked with P2 today to plot points of interest on a map of Scotland and this was reproduced in the playground with chalk.
