Today was Health Theme Day throughout the School.  This class started off with a check in and then a serene musical visit to the seaside to create a seaside music scape.  After interval we looked at the Eatwell plate and the importance of a balanced diet.  The results were great and made us think about a healthy choice for lunch.

In the afternoon we looked at paintings by the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo who recreated subjects using food as the basis.

We drew pictures then painted people in a similar style.

These look wonderful, well done!  (From Mrs O’Driscoll)

We hope the topic is a success.

We have started practising for the Harvest performance at the Church.  Our performance is called “The Greedy Farmer”.  Practising the lines at home will definitely help.

Today Primary 4 were thinking about a Harvest Feast and using describing words to make it sound totally delicious.

We chose flowers from the gardens and, after looking at Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”, we painted the flowers, thinking specifically about shape and colour.  In the afternoon we created digital images of the paintings.

That looks fab, Lauren!  Good observational skills.  (From Mrs O’Driscoll)

19/09/2017

We have been thinking of Harvest and Autumn today as P4 are performing at the Harvest Service at the Church.  We have chosen the following names for our groups:

“The Bright Sunflowers”

“The Cool Conkers”

“The Golden Corn”

“The Crunchy Carrots”

We also picked some apples to sell and we managed to raise £8, wow!

Primary 4 were recreating wild flower pictures using petals from wild flowers in the school gardens.  Ordinarily we wouldn’t pick flowers, however they are coming to an end and it seems a shame not to make use of them.  We just managed to dodge the heavy rain.

(No pictures as the camera was not charged.)
