Primary 1 have been looking at ‘sorting’ this week in maths. We looked at the different ways in which we can sort things. The ideas we came up with were:
sorting by colour
sorting by size
sorting by shape
sorting by the type of object
We took our learning outdoors today and had a look at sorting leaves into different groups. We sorted them by colour and split them into 3 groups. Fantastic learning took place during this session. Well done guys!!
Primary 1 have been super busy today learning lots of new things! Today we were exploring the numicon and finding different ways to make numbers to 10. We had to problem solve to make certain numbers by using 2 or 3 pieces of numicon to make them. Amazing work!
Some fantastic learning this afternoon during our CHIL time. A few children decided to have a go at making different calculations using the 10 trains. We practised writing our calculations down all by ourselves! Super work guys.
All Primary 1 pupils have been given the phonics booklet as shown below to practise their sounds at home. This has not to be returned back to school but simply to support those sounds taught in class, at home.
Primary 1 took their learning outdoors today and were practising writing their sounds with big chalk on the ground. They said it was a little bit trickier because the chalk was really thick compared to their pencils. They had a go at writing all the sounds they have learned so far which are: m,a,s,t,d,p,i,n,g and o. Well done guys!!
We’ve had a busy week in Primary 1 so far learning lots of new sounds. Today we looked at ‘g’ and came up with some words that begin with the sound ‘g’ such as green, Gran, grass, gloves and goat.
We practised writing the sound on our boards. WOW how good are we!
