A great discussion in Primary 6/7 this week, thinking about how we use maths in our daily lives. We discovered we use maths skills a lot more than we realised! Our posters reflect our discussion and the importance in life, learning and work.

Maths Week Scotland
Primary 6/7 have kick started Maths Week Scotland by using some of our newly purchased money resources to support Financial Education. We were successful in a grant for over £600 to purchase resources for our ECC and all our classes!

Roald Dahl Day in Primary 6/7
This week we have been learning about the life of Roald Dahl to mark this years ‘Roald Dahl Day’ which is celebrated on 13th September each year. We were inspired by his humour and engaged in texts to increase our understanding of vocabulary by learning strategies to help us understand the meaning of words. We created art work of some key characters from his texts, in the style of Quentin Blake.
Osprey Chick Names
Our classes have suggested some lovely names for the 2 female Osprey Chicks at Loch Doon. Congratulations to Cameryn (P1) who suggested ‘Rainbow’ for one chick at Aimee and Jessica (P7) who suggested ‘Hope’. What lovely names! Thank you everyone for all your suggestions!

Osprey Chicks Naming Challenge!

Cave Paintings in P6/7
This week, we have been learning the history of cave paintings, linking with our class novel ‘Wolf Brother’. We studied the style and materials used thousands of years ago to create colour, then created our own using similar colour paints.
P6/7 Class Charter
Primary 6/7 have developed their Class Charter, linking with Rights. Great discussions around how they would like their classroom environment to be. What a beautiful display in our classroom to remind us everyday.
