Outdoor Learning
Primary 1 took their learning outdoors today to practise writing some of the words they have been focussing on. They listened to the 3 sounds before blending together to make the word. They are amazing!
Primary 1 parents if you are contacting myself or Mrs Forsyth via email could you please send it to both of us. Our emails are:

GOING BATTY IN P1
Taking maths outside!
Primary 1 have been looking at ‘sorting’ this week in maths. We looked at the different ways in which we can sort things. The ideas we came up with were:
- sorting by colour
- sorting by size
- sorting by shape
- sorting by the type of object
We took our learning outdoors today and had a look at sorting leaves into different groups. We sorted them by colour and split them into 3 groups. Fantastic learning took place during this session. Well done guys!!
Counting with numicon
Primary 1 have been super busy today learning lots of new things! Today we were exploring the numicon and finding different ways to make numbers to 10. We had to problem solve to make certain numbers by using 2 or 3 pieces of numicon to make them. Amazing work!
Fred talk
We are flying through our new sounds in Primary 1! Today Fred taught us our new sound which is ‘b’. We brainstormed some things that start with this sound like – bird, butterfly, bell, bee and balloon. We practised writing ‘b’ on our whiteboards. Well done guys!
Cool Calculations
Some fantastic learning this afternoon during our CHIL time. A few children decided to have a go at making different calculations using the 10 trains. We practised writing our calculations down all by ourselves! Super work guys.
Read Write Inc.
All Primary 1 pupils have been given the phonics booklet as shown below to practise their sounds at home. This has not to be returned back to school but simply to support those sounds taught in class, at home.
