P5 used our novel study Thumble Tumble and the Ollpheist as a stimulus for creating a setting in our writing lesson today.

We identified adjectives and similes that AH Proctor had used to describe Thumble Tumble’s cottage in order to inspire our own setting for our imaginative story we are creating.

P5 participated in some active numeracy rotations today as an introduction to our new numeracy topic on fractions.

We looked at representations of a fraction using dominoes, matching games and uni-link shapes as well as investigating different ways in which a fraction can be made.

• Numeracy – multiplication and division Fact Families Top Marks.
• IDL – choose one Scottish Myth or Legend and find out some interesting facts about it that you would like to further research in class next week.

P5 are working on their multiplication and division fact families in order to support their learning later this week with word problems. We carried out Active Maths activities on rotation including digital technologies, board and dice games.

P5 have been learning all about similes today. We are going to include them in our writing.

We identified similes which related to the Gruffalo and then worked in pairs to match different similes.

We have been learning about hot and cold colours as well as primary  and secondary colours with our art specialist Miss McAllister.

We have combined this knowledge with the features of tartan to create Scottish fish designed in tartan.

P5 used a new digital application today to evaluate what they had learned in numeracy.

Using their own personal QR Code, pupils were able to answer questions about Multiples, Factors, Product and Prime Numbers.

P5 worked extremely hard today learning all about Multiples, Factors, Products and Prime Numbers. Every pupil challenged themselves and worked collaboratively with their table partner to solve multiplication problems.
Mrs Kelly was very impressed with their work!
