World Book Day
P1 loved sharing their favourite bedtime story and bedtime teddy with the class this afternoon.
They also enjoyed listening to stories from our volunteers and Mrs Conetta, who brought in her favourite story as a child!
Chinese New Year
We have loved learning about Chinese New Year. We have been learning about and creating our own dragon dances, painting dragons and making fans. The class worked together to make a giant dragon’s head which we will use when performing our dragon dance.
We even make vegetable stir fry noodles using our bridge and claw grips when learning to chop the vegetables safely. The vegetable stir fry was a huge success.
The Chinese Restaurant role-play area has been a favourite in the class too this week.
Active Start
We love Active Start in P1. Every morning P1 come in and choose their morning activity – this week the focus is on literacy. Activities included
- making 3 letter words in the ball pit,
- stamping common words, made even tricker when the stampers are capital letters!
- playdough letters
- shape words
- roll and read games
Shortbread
We continued to learn about Scottish and Scottish traditions by following a recipe to make shortbread. P1 listened to Immersive Reader on word read the recipe aloud for them to follow.
Our village
As part of our Scottish fortnight, P1 went for a walk in the village to locate and draw landmarks.
The Nativity
We have been retelling the story of the Nativity.
Bookbug voting
P1 voted for their favourite book from their Bookbug Bag. The children draw their face on a piece of paper and we created a pictograph to record the results.
Christmas story time with P3/4
The Kindness Elves in P3/4 visited and asked the children to share some Christmas stories with P1. Some P1s visited their classroom and some P3/4s visited the P1 classroom to take part in the session.
We all loved listening to the stories!
Santa’s Workshop
P1 planned what they would like to have in their Santa’s Workshop.
With the help of some P5 pupils, P1 made labels and signs for the new role play area. The class cannot wait to start playing in it!
