We have been learning lots of new sounds  and beginning to make lots more words with our magnetic letters and boards.
P1 have been using lots of practical materials to support them when learning addition. Â We have been using objects, Numicon, coat hangers and pegs and Rekenreks.
We planted from spring bulbs outside in the planters. Â Look out for them in the Spring!
P1 have had a busy few weeks with lots of different learning experiences. Â Here is a snapshot of what they have been getting up to!
The Great Fenwick Bake Off
Pupils worked together to measure ingredients to make some delicious apple muffins for The Great Fenwick Bake Off competition.
We are learning to recognise dot images. We chose a number card and then used counters to make the dot images.
We rolled dice and had to count the number of dots to work out how many teddies in the ten frames.
We had lots of fun pressing the Numicon into the sand to make different totals.
We had a visit from Angela from Childsmile and Snappy the crocodile who showed us how to brush our teeth properly.
P1 brush their teeth daily after lunch in class.
We looked around our classroom, the school and playground to find numbers. P1 learnt to record their learning by taking photographs on the iPad.
We watched a video about the Global Goals and talked about what changes we could make to help our planet.
We all added what we would like to change to a jigsaw piece.
“We are all a small piece of the jigsaw.”
We were learning to play dominoes. We had to count the dot patterns and match them.
We used 10 frames and we had to put in the counters.
We pressed the numicon into the playdough and made different numbers.
Child 1: “I used a 10 and a 1 and I made 11.”
Child 2: “I used a 4 and 4 and it makes 8.”
