Mrs O’Neill Update 20.05.20

Primary 1, it is so lovely to be writing to you again.  How are you?  How has your week been?  I was super impressed to see so many people taking part in the Education City activities.  Well done!  This week is Health Week and I hope you are enjoying the challenges on this week’s grid.

As part our 500 mile challenge, I was out walking one day and found this pretty trail.  It was lovely walking beside the beautiful bluebells.  What do you think I saw as I walked along the trail?

On your health grid this week, a learning idea is for you to make your own trail.  What would you see as you walk along your trail?  A friendly dragon?  An alien?  A scary troll?  On my walk, I found this peacock butterfly.  Why do you think it is called a peacock butterfly?

As I walked further and enjoyed all the beautiful countryside, we are very fortunate to have in our part of Scotland, I heard twigs breaking very quickly, leaves rustling close by and then suddenly a roe deer jumped out in front of me.  He’s very well camouflaged with the browns of the trees and bushes.

My walk reminded me that it is not the end of the walk which is the best part, but what my senses enjoy along the way.  Part of Health Week is looking after our thoughts and feelings.  It is sometimes hard to find the best words to tell someone if you are feeling sad orangry and if you are having thoughts about how long it will be until you are able to play with your friends, go to your clubs or come back to school.  It is ok to think and feel all of this.  To show someone how you feel you could draw a picture, put on a play with your toys, send a postcard to your friend or cuddle in with someone you love.  I am incredibly proud of you and look forward to being together again.

  1. I like the Peacock butterfly, it is beautiful. I have been looking out for butterfly’s on my walk this week. I have also been doing some sports for Virtual Sports Day. My mum has sent some photos to Mrs Davidson of me doing an obstacle course, beat the goalie and sprint running.

  2. Hello Mrs O’Neil
Your walk looked lovely! On my walk we saw 2 swans and a herring. There has also been a very cheeky squirrel in my garden who keeps eating our bins.
I enjoyed the bird watching this week, I have been watching from my playroom window and get very excited when the wood pigeons arrive.
I am missing everyone so this week I sent cards to my aunties and my great papa. It made them all smile!
I loved sports day and getting everything ready for it. I had a fun week with our tasks this week, mum said it was just what I needed.
